shax - left side by peterku shax - left side by peterku
Hi all. It's been long time since I added pictures here last time. Busy part of year is behind us. I finally found time for relax and this is output. Concept of energy gun - I wanted to create something what JC Danton (deus ex) could hold proudly. Not from far future, shiny, with sexy lines suited into nearly monochromatic visualization and shadows. (Short look at my gallery and its apparent that combination black and white is my favorite that I prefer to colorful images.) Concept, modeling and rendering is mine. Whole model is highpoly. Used program 3ds max and vray rendering engine.

I prepared 2 pictures:

What I love about your work in general is that they look like they could belong in our world. When the time comes for me to buy a handgun, I will be looking at custom shops to replicate this one..

This looks really good! I can feel the gun in my hand just from the look of this picture. I also love how you visualize the concept - it's clear, very well designed and gets the best from the minimalistic look. I gotta Watch you, man, you bring some awesome work.

i hope you don't get me wrong if i call your work as "the playstation gun"...it's a very clear and clean concept - maybe too beautiful to use it in a fight. great shape, good textures and a great rendering.
thanks for sharing

originally I used to make heavy raw pieces I know but now I prefer this looking. It look more like from future and I dont have to loose time with too complicated textures....

Is this polygonal modeling? If not, what? In your wireframe render many of the lines on the model seem curved, which is not indicative of standard polygonal modeling.

Hi. Its very usual polygonal modeling. Believe me. I only seldom use advance modeling technique as 99 percent of work can be done quicker by standard poly modeling when I start with simple box. What you see there is screenshot directly from max when I apply meshsmooth function on model. Tghis feature show original mesh on highpoly mesh so you can see a tension on surface so creator can make changes accordingly. bye.

That makes sense. I haven't used meshsmooth; I've only used turbosmooth (which may or may not have the same ability, to view the pre-smoothing model wireframe transposed onto the smoothed high poly).

Meshsmooth is legacy from the past. It was before turbosmooth. Actually his result is better then turbosmooth, but difference is very very small. On the other hand turbosmooth is quicker and this fact prevailed. Now everybody used turbosmooth. personally I used meshsmooth only when I want to show original mesh on highpoly body.... its more habit then necessity....
