B78 - sci fi handgun by peterku B78 - sci fi handgun by peterku
Concept of sci fi handgun. One of those with usual profile. No Bullets but battery instead of standart mag.

Worked in 3ds max, used vray rendering engine and finished it in photoshop. Model is highpoly.

So what do you think. Do you like it or not? tnx for comments if any. bye.

This is certainly a sexy pistol!

As usual, let's see the good stuff! The sleek design of the main body is pretty neat. It gives off the fierce look while still being very combat. In fact, the design reminds me of something out of Mass Effect. Aside from that, the overall detail on the barrel leading up to the muzzle is very well balanced- a little bit here and there, but it does kind of feel empty.

Quite honestly I can't find anything that could be improved upon other than the side piece of the main body feeling a little empty in terms of detail. But then again, for some, this is perfectly fine.

Overall:
Fierce design
Very sci fi
Good detail, but somewhat empty (in the slightest amount though)

This is a beautiful piece, excellent work once again!

I really like the guard under the trigger - it looks like a piece of a snap-on wrist watch.

I noticed some of real ones have this feature to be able using while wearing gloves.

I just love the way your concept was made. Would you consider to model a futuristic rocket launcher by any chance? That would be really "blow" my mind lol

This is a gun i'd immediately buy for one of my sci-fi-charakters. What jon3s115 called "empty" is exactly what i like in this design. Sometimes the missing of something is a better design feature than anything else.

What i'm interested in is, what does it fire if not bullets? Electric impulses? Energy rays? ok, i just read the infos at the Nova, so forget the question ... but without a recoil, why the sledge?

And i have to say: i love the warning-sticker-detail, makes it extremely authentic.

tnx you amte. We both are same in this. in general I preffer simple design if it is workable. it was discusion about recoil in scifi gun here on deviantart. I am not strong in physics but momentum has to remain. really dont know if sci fi guns has that recoil or not. and those labels I use a lot. it brings nice details on surfaces.

Recoil on energy-weapons ... yeah, that seems to be an issue in quite many sci-fi-settings.

Here are my possible explanations:
   1. instantly overheated humid air - would work in some climates and circumstances
   2. highly propelled magnetic core segment to produce the high energy burst for the shot
   3. a temporal immense density of photons that is enough to have gravitational or momentum effects
   4. the uncoolness of ranged weapons without recoil

i guess this topic is quite as popular as the fact that nearly all laser-weapons in sci-fi have visible rays at all times

yea these points are worth of considerations but I was on mind basic rule of physics. Some values are preserved in any possible situation. One of them is momentum. for example when you use light then photons kick you back when they leave device. Or if you use radio then also you are kicked back.  it  is far too small to measure it but if you use photons with high energy it should be measureable. |For example there is some noise about this kind of engine: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RF_reson…
It apparently also brake basic physics rule so I am interesting in how it will work eventually. there has to be some kind error.

Very interesting indeed. But that brings me to thinking about how save it is to accelerate directly away from earth with such drives. If Photons in a such high concentration are thrustedt outof the rear with such an intensity to lift a spacecraft from the groumd or to gain enough momentum for interstellar travel ... we could live on a donut instead of a globe afterwards ...

But that supports those sci-fi scenarios where it is inevitable for spacecraft to start their voiages outside of the star system or at a nadir- or zenith-point of the star to prevent damage to planets or space-structures or other catastrophic effects.

But all this scientific facts highly propel an idea of mine for a fantasy/steampunk/scifi-series of games.

Maybe all of this sometimes is enough to be sold. And then, of course, i would like to use some of yout fabulous work for it. But this will take years at leats, because it's just a hobby of mine ... if this happens, i'll just ask again and you can name your price (and i'll faint then ;) ).

If I may ask, would a sci-fi gauntlet be the next step for weapons? With a side arm, you would have to pull it out but with a gauntlet it would be right there to fire. It would also have more surface area to store batteries.

But back to the handgun, it looks nice and compacted.Since it is battery powered, you could place your thumb on the top instead of the side since the barrel won't slide back from the recoil?

why would you put your thumb on top?

I was thinking of the phaser from Star Trek, that the trigger would be on top since the barrel doesn't slide back from recoil.

which star trek you mean this media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736… i mean considering the gun isn't designed like that and you can also clearly see there is a trigger where a normal gun has then. also while there is no slide to come back since it fires plasma there would still be recoil, and some one who doesn't know better might brake there thumb if its back there and they don't have the best grip.
