MAD.ASA secondary by peterku
MAD.ASA secondary
Concept of sci-fi rifle. This one is meant to be pair to my previous work. DAEVA. (DAEVA - main by peterku).

Both are based on same principle. Usual profile with few added extra non-crazy  features pushing it into future.  Design shouldn't be from far future but believable like from tomorrow.

Work is made in 3ds max. Rendering engine is V-ray.

I did 2 pictures.

Cerberus by peterku
Cerberus
Concept of automatic defence system from the future.

Background technical info is on the picture. Just open it  in original size. I did a picture a large.

This work I did in 3ds max. Model is highpoly and rendering engine is vray.  Render time of it has been around 80 minutes. Picture has resolution 2600x2080 pixels.

So what do you think? Do you like it or not? tnx for comments if any. Bye.

SETI-main by peterku
SETI-main

Concept of sci fi rifle.

Codename is SETI. Primary goal has been to create dynamic design with no doubt it is not from present time for fictional scenario. To get lines flowing I also subjected energy pack/magazine to this shape.  Battery is placed directly under the grip and once it is engaged,  it fully follows  lines of main body without disturbing points.  There is a vents entrance in the rear section. I didnt make any display. It is suppose to have direct datalink to scope or suit with all information about actual status of devices.  Laser pointer is also involved.  I covered object into shiny material. Just areas coming in touch with operator are from synthetic rubber in order not to be slippery. No dirt, no scratch or damage. Clear in all aspects just dropped from production line.

There is one specific feature. Front part -"Barrel"- includes 2 (left and right  side) lamp. These can operate in 2 modes. Classic mode as a standards lights  and secondary mode as strobe light giving you additional defense points by causing strong disorientation on opposite side.

Whole concept and execution is mine. I did work in 3ds max.  Model is highpoly and rendering engine is V-ray.

Instead of several independent pictures I did just one quite big and large with 3 shots.  I recommend to open it in original size to see details.

So what do you think? Do you like it or not? Tnx for comments if any.

I am a fellow 3D artist currently working freelance for 0 A.D.  play0ad.com/
and I must say I'm quite amazed by your work. I was wondering if you could answer some of my questions to help me getting better ?

1. How do you make your textures ? Is it in Max ? Cause you only say you used 3dsmax.
2. I have been looking for ages for good texturing tutorials do you have some ?
3. How do you make the carving on swords ? Do you model it by hand ? It must take ages :)
4. Do you do animation ?

Thank you for your answers. Take care and Keep up the good work.

I love your sword concepts. I am a custom knife maker and perhaps I will try one of your designs. If I do I will let you know and of course credit you.

Hi, you 3d jobs are amazing. Do you do commission art? If so, how much you charge for a cover (back and front) of a A5 book? I need a 3d shield leaning on a rock in the floor. I have the model of the shield.

Hi, really like your designs! I was wondering, would you have any issue if at some point I tried making some of them as actual, physical props? (with design credit of course as yours) I don't have any plans right now as I've got several projects in the work currently, but I'd love to try them at some point.

hi. I checked it. it ss good. More people end work with clay model but you should finish it by texturing and makeing some renders to see whole work at once. Pay attention on texturing. this will create major portion of realism ....

yea i was waiting to texture until the end, because if i texture it now, i might see a problem or might want to add something, and that would lead to re texturing it.  and thanks :)

and i'll try to make some realism at the end :)

your work is just to cool :3

how easy is it to model in 3Ds Max?  been thinking about switching over to it, but don't know yet :/

Do you draw your own concepts or do you use concepts from someone else *with permission of course*

tnx. I dont know how easy it is because I know only 3dsmax and zbrush. Have no experience with others 3d programs. its just matter of practise. look at my first models in my gallery when i started...
On web you will find many tutorials on a lot of modeling techniques but honestly 95 percent of time I use only basic one. editpoly modeling.

No. All models are my concepts. But when you want to practise then at the begining use as reference real object so you can compare your work and improving quality.
